2005 Highlights

  • Won a world championship in the long jump at the 2005 IAAF World Championships in Helsinki, Finland, on Aug. 10, leaping a career-best and University of Tennessee record 6.83m or 22 feet, 7 ¼ inches.
  • Became only the second American woman in history to win a world title in the long jump, joining Jackie Joyner-Kersee, and is only the third to medal in the world championships, joining Joyner-Kersee and Marion Jones
  • Ranked Number 2 in the world in 2005 and Number 1 in the USA.
  • Runner-up in long jump at 2005 USA Track & Field Championships, earning a place on the American squad for the IAAF World Championships
  • 2005 NCAA Outdoor long jump champion and All-American, helping Tennessee finish fourth in Sacramento and chart its best outdoor result nationally since 1987
