ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
2008 Ramzi became the first athlete from Bahrain to win Olympic Gold. Rashid won the men’s 1500m in Beijing, China where he ran two of the 10 fastest times in Olympic History. Rashid won the final in a time of 3:32.84.
Ramzi was injury free in 2008 and ran his first indoor competition at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain where he finished 5th. He ran his first outdoor competition at the Prefontaine Classic where he competed in the 2 mile race and finished second. Rashid ran his first competitive 5000m race in Tangiers, Morocco where he won the race in a time of 13.12.
2007 The injury from 2006 lingered for the indoor and the majority of the Outdoor 2007 season. Rashid ran his first competition of the year at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan where he finished an incredible second for the silver medal and his fourth major championship medal in four years.
2006 Ran 3.29.18 at the Rome Godlen Gala his new Personal Record. Was injured the remainder of the year even though he tried to run at the Brussels Golden League event in Brussels where he did not perform to his standards.
2005 Helsinki World Champion at 800m and 1500 meters. First person to achieve this double at the IAAF World Championships. Only person since Peter Schnell accomplished the double at the 1964 Olympics. Ranked 3rd in the world in both the 800 and 1500 meters for 2005.
2003 Indoor Silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest.
2003 Asian Champion at 1500 meters.
Has won the 2004 and 2005 Golden Gala Grand Prix in Rome Italy. The 2004 victory ended Hicham El Guerrouj’s 29 meet win streak at 1500m.
