BACKGROUND

In 2007, 16-year-old Chanelle Price was already competing on the biggest stage in American track and field: the USA Outdoor Championships. The very next year she ran the second fastest high school 800m (2:01.61) of all time, earning her inclusion to the United States Olympic trials en route to being named Gatorade’s Female Athlete of the Year. Price would begin her collegiate career at the University of Tennessee shortly thereafter. While at Tennessee, Price won two SEC 800m titles and was a nine-time All-American. Price finds herself in a deep American 800m field, but has made a name for herself early in her professional career. Price earned two runner-up finishes at the 2013 and 2014 USA Indoor Championships.  She made the USA world Indoor team.  She broke through with a 2:00.09 PR at the 2014 World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland. The new personal best earned Price her first world title in addition to making her the answer to an interesting track and field trivia question. Price is the first American woman to ever win 800m gold at an indoor world championship.
